Nestled charmingly along Kuhio Highway in Lihue, Sunrise Coffee is a vibrant local gem that artfully blends the rich traditions of a coffee shop, açaí haven, and donut boutique. This delightful spot is far more than just your average caffeine fix—it’s an experience that engages all your senses and invites you to savor the very best of Hawaiian-inspired fresh fare and innovative coffee creations.
At the heart of Sunrise Coffee’s menu lie their bright and nourishing açaí bowls, such as the classic Açaí Na Tigela and the enticing Açaí Bowl with Banana. Crafted with freshly blended açaí and topped generously with your choice of ripe bananas, tart berries, or both, these bowls provide a refreshing burst of natural sweetness and a satisfyingly crisp texture thanks to the pumpkin flax seed granola. Each bite feels like a tropical getaway in a bowl—vibrant, healthful, and infinitely nourishing.
For those seeking a savory start, their avocado toast truly stands out. Customers rave about the perfectly creamy avocado layered on toasted bread, finished with just the right balance of seasoning—it’s described as “next level outstanding,” an elevated twist on a breakfast classic that effortlessly marries simplicity and flavor. Complementing this are hearty bagels served with rich cream cheese and a variety of freshly baked pastries, which rotate daily and often include fan favorites like banana bread and monkey bread.
No coffee outing at Sunrise is complete without exploring their creative drink menu. From the velvety Macadamia Vanilla Latte and the smooth Sweet Cream Cold Brew to the aromatic Matcha Latte and Golden Latte, each beverage is crafted with a thoughtful nod to local flavors and quality. The seasonal and specialty lattes, like the Cinnamon Roll Latte, bring in layers of spiced warmth and indulgence, often leaving patrons craving their next visit. For those looking for a refreshing alternative, their freshly squeezed juices and Italian sodas offer bright, tangy complements to any meal.
The atmosphere at Sunrise Coffee is just as enticing as their food and drinks. Situated in a cozy, tucked-away hillside location, the space offers ample seating and a relaxed vibe making it a perfect spot to either kick-start your day or enjoy a midday respite. The team’s warmth profoundly enriches every visit—whether it’s Shan’s friendly recommendations, Rosie’s delightful visits, or Ruth’s attentive service, the staff flair adds a personal touch that transforms simple stops into cherished memories.

Stopped in just for coffee and ended up staying for breakfast too. The coffee was smooth and excellent, and the food was fabulous! We ordered the avocado toast and the açaí bowl, both were fresh and delicious, but the avocado toast was truly next level outstanding! Shan was a delight, offering recommendations and friendly conversation. She enhanced the entire experience with her suggestions! It’s a cute side of the road coffee stand with seating, lots of charm! Would definitely recommend!
We had an iced dirty chai with coconut milk and whole milk. At first we thought they had raw cow’s milk. That would have been awesome. But the drinks were yummy. Also, Rosie came to visit while we were waiting for our drinks. She’s so friendly and adorable. Will definitely be back!
We stopped for breakfast on our way to our tubing adventure in Kauai. The food truck was very cute and they had a nice area to sit and eat. They were friendly and we enjoyed fresh juice, acai bowls, coffee and smoothies. It was a great stop and we saw some chameleons too!
My husband's and my favorite coffee stop! Ruth helped me decide which coffee to get this time. My husband sticks to the iced twix latte, which is delicious So far I've had an ube iced latte and the iced "I Dubai love you". This is our daily coffee stop while on the island. Don't miss it!
Adorable spot tucked into the hillside. Lots of seating. I really enjoyed how they had specialty coffee flavors in addition to the normal coffee menu. We tried the Cinnamon Roll Latte. Absolutely delicious, one of the best coffees we’ve had on the island. Definitely would like to come back.
Stopped by for breakfast on our way to the West shore. The area around the café was nice, however we felt like we were overcharged (2 lattes, a plain bagel and one with cream cheese for over $40). The donuts were $5 each, very small they accepted only cash. No bathrooms available.
